Let’s Go! NMB 2012

One thousand recent high school graduates from the eastern U.S. converge upon a North Myrtle Beach neighborhood each week in June to celebrate and party. It’s BEACH WEEK!

Nearly 130 Upper Midwest Campus Crusade students and staff annually migrate to this same neighborhood at about the same time but for an entirely different purpose–to grow in and spread the knowledge of Jesus Christ. It’s the NORTH MYRTLE BEACH SUMMER PROJECT.

It’s an amazing environment–not the coastal surrounding, but rather the surrounding that are are conducive for significant spiritual growth and impact. It’s a spiritual greenhouse! For example, the nearly 130 summer project participants live in close proximity to one other. We are in each others lives. We regularly share meals. Together we pray, laugh, work through conflict, study God’s Word and do evangelism. It is an Acts Chapter 2 type of environment!

Right next door and throughout our neighborhood are thousands of lost people. A laid back vacation /party atmosphere make engaging people, especially students, in spiritual conversations pretty easy. A majority of the people very open and receptive to the things of God.

After a couple days of partying, the resulting emptiness makes our neighbors quite open to spiritual conversations.

All of these dynamics and many more will result in a summer that propels you into a deeper walk with God and gives you greater confidence in making Him known, a summer that develops your leadership skills and begins friendships you’ll take with you throughout your life.
